Unfortunately, T-Mobile is smarter than that, and forces you to buy their $19.99 internet plan if you wan&#8217;t unrestricted access to the internet without using a proxy server.  I don&#8217;t consider this a down side since its essentially the same price I was paying with Cingular, except I&#8217;m no longer breaching my terms of service agreement by tethering my phone to my laptop.<br \/>\nSince I didn&#8217;t buy a T-Mobile phone (but kept my Cingular branded Nokia 6230), I wanted to post the GPRS settings for T-Mobile so I wouldn&#8217;t forget them&#8230; If you don&#8217;t want to type these into your phone, use this <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tmobileus.wdsglobal.com\/phonefirst\">online configurator<\/a> to send a &#8220;Connection Settings&#8221; message to your T-Mobile handset.  Note that it did not send any connection settings to the phone&#8217;s &#8220;tethering&#8221;, &#8220;E-Mail&#8221;, &#8220;IM&#8221;, or &#8220;IMPS&#8221; GPRS profiles, so I still had to enter them manually.
